Remedies for Colic Archives
There is no single remedy for treating colic. Treating colic basically involves soothing your baby, reducing stress and identifying and eliminating any thing that could be causing the colic.
You should also look not only at decreasing your babies stress levels but yours as well. Babies are very sensitive and if you are stressed they are quite capable of sensing this and becoming agitated themselves.

I have been feeding my baby with this special formula milk as she was found to be lactose intolerant a month after she was born. Since I put her on the stage 2 milk (at months age) she has not responded well to feeding. Rather she displays colic like symptom including thrashing around, tummy ache and more recently a very nasty rash.
Are there any mums using this milk whose babies have experienced similar problems?
I’ve also been told that Soya milk is not recommended for babies because it contains lots of oestrogen –
Is this true?

my daughter was colic and I use to give her warm chamomile tea in a bottle and that helped her.

My 15 week old baby is teething, what is the best pain relief for him ?
I have calpol and dentinox teething gel but it doesn’t seem to be doing much for him are there any soothing techniques you used for your little ones as he gets so worked up sometimes.
I know it’s lactose free, but is it actually a bit healthier for babies?… kind of like how Whole Foods is so expensive because it’s healthier and higher quality as opposed to, say, Safeway?
either way. good or bad. has anyone had a good or bad experience with it?….aside from how expensive it is…
I love my daughter dealry but she is driving me nuts! I knew parenting was hard but not THIS hard! She is breast fed and now eats baby food etc through out the day, we try the same routine at night every night and its like world war 3 in our home, she will only go to sleep while nursing and being held, the very minute I move to put her in our bed, her bed, the swing, anywhere but my arms she wakes up and screams as though she is dying! I have tried to let her cry but it is so heartbreaking i never make it more than 20 mins and that has only been a few times as I just cant bear to hear her cry as she does. She literally makes herself hoarse and seems as though she is choking from the fit she is throwing. I try going back in her room to assure her I am there and let her see me in the swing but all this does is further piss her off. Sometimes i think ok maybe she is sick or feeling bad or teething but to hear me tell it she has been teething for 4 mos. now and not a tooth in sight, lol…I have read and read and read on this and some people say let her cry it out and after a few days she will get passed it others say no way should you let an infant cry like that and I just dont know what to do anymore, we go through this at every nap and bedtime, daddy works alot and I am home with her so its left to me to figure out whats wrong with her or what am I doing wrong because the ONLY time she sleeps is if I am with her and at this rate the laundry is piling up, the house doesnt get cleaned and I am constantly stressed out. My parents and family say she is spoiled and its our fault, but up until she was 3 mos she had horrible colic and we would walk holes in the floor every night from 5 to 10pm carrying her and trying to console her. The pediatrician gave us Levsin drops and even though they knowck her out the minute I put her down she is wide awake and screaming…HELP…suggestions real or otherwise appreciated!
She stills sleeps with us, I know people say this was mistake number 1 but she was just so little and precious and we didnt want her to sleep in her crib all alone in the beginning, now she wakes still 2-3 times a night to nurse, the doc says she isnt even hungry its more of a comfort thing as she only nurses about 3-5 mins and then falls back asleep.
my four month old is on nutramigen has been since he was one month old and now my dr wants me to try to switch him to emfamil prosobee soy formula i am scared hes going to get sick again he wants me to add one ounce in with the nutramigen and then see how he does and then gradually switch has anybody else switched this early was your baby ok im a little worried any comments would be great he also wants me to start giving him stage one foods how often do i give them to him thank you
Just wondering how old your baby was when he/she was put on either of these formulas, and if you use ready to feed or powder, and how they are doing or did on the formula. I will probably have to put my second daughter on a hypo formula because 1st daughter had milk protein sensitivity and baby #2 is showing same signs…I’m breastfeeding right now though for as long as I can (and I cut out dairy obviously!) Thanks
The first year of my child’s life I had him on Nutramigen for medical reasons. Now medical stopped paying and now he doesn’t want anything but Nutramigen. I have tried all sorts of milk but he doesn’t want anything…I have tried soy milk, whole milk, 2% milk anybody with this same problem please help. Anything that taste like it could also help. He’s 1 yr 7 months
he has good taste buds. he can taste the cow’s milk and he gives me the up right back lol
He is still having loose stools about 5-6 times a day and the rash is better but still there. Its not as red but still bumpy, almost like eczema. His Doc thinks he is allergic to soy…He was on Isomil since he was born. How long should it take for his symptoms to get better and for his stools to return to normal?
My daughter has a pretty serious case of colic, and to top it off she actually has a molar coming in and she’s only 7 and a half weeks old! I couldn’t believe it. Needless to say she’s been feeling pretty miserable lately. She will only sleep when she’s being held or put in her swing or car seat, and will only relax when she’s given tylenol or is being bounced in my arms or on my knee. So as a result I have slept 15 minutes to 3 hours a night for the last 3 weeks. With a few all nighters in between. I honestly don’t know how I’m functioning right now, I’m just so run down. I’ve tried everything to help her sleep and stop crying. Swaddling, shushing, warm baths, Mylicon, The Happiest Baby On The Block, you name it and I’ve probably tried it. Her pediatrician prescribed an antispasmodic (Levsin Drops) to help her relax and sleep, but I’ve been doing some reading online and I’m feeling a little hesitant to give her Belladonna because the possible side effects seem so serious. I’m tempted to just try and survive the next few weeks on my own but I was wondering if anyone on Y!A had tried Levsin and what there experience was. If you’ve tried them did they work? Did your baby have any side effects? Would you recommend them? Thanks!
