I have a 2 month old baby, it’s our first. She is breastfed exclusively and is growing just fine, but she has a lot of gas ALL the time. My poor baby starts sleeping and you can see her bending and stretching because of the colic, and you can also hear her tummy sounds everytime it happens, so she wakes up very easily and never has a good straight sleep. I know she is not supposed to sleep a lot at this stage, but I would love if she could sleep 2 straight hours in between feedings with less colic. She doesn’t last too much inside her crib before she is awaken by the pain and this puts a lot of stress in my wife. We’ve tried Mylicon and don’t feel it helps much or probably not at all. Has anyone tried anything else that helps with the gas? Thanks.

He is 3 weeks old and I have been breast feeding and he would just scream for a couple of hours a day every time he was awake. I have switched to formula and he is still screaming, it has only benn 24 hrs. I give him gas drops and that helps get the gas out but he doesn’t usaly have alot of gas just a little and he doesn’t pull his legs up to his chest and scream, he just screams and screams, nothing works to calm him!!

Are you a new mum or perhaps an experienced mum with a newborn babe? Colic, indigestion and wind are very normal in infants and extremely worrying for their parents. I am certain you have been exposed to the impressive effects of gripe water for babies in treating colic. Like to know how harmless gripe water is and what the advantages and disadvantages are?

There are different types of gripe water and differing brands with different ingredients-which brands work better? Find out the truth behind gripe water.

Gripe Water-The Beginnings

Woodward gripe water comes from from the founder William Woodward who came upon a remedy for stomach ache which back then was called gripes. This colic cure is a now freely available throughout Europe, America and Asia.

Gripe water is known as a herbal concoction for soothing colic in infants but these days every company has a different version of gripe water for babies. The first ever gripe water contained dill, fennel, sodium bicarbonate and alcohol-which some believe was actually the problem solver.

How do you know which brands of gripe water perform better and which ones are best avoided? There are many various kinds with many different ingredients but the one thing that every gripe water should be is purely herbal, however, one can reason that there are many companies that use sodium bicarbonate in their gripe water which does not actually fall under the herbal group but can be classified as natural.

Some gripe water brands contain a combination of herbs. These are some common gripe water ingredients:  Fennel, Caraway, Lemon Balm, Ginger, Peppermint, Chamomile, Aloe vera, Blackthorn, Dill, Angelica, Cinnamon or Aniseed.

Relieving Colic With Gripe Water

Gripe water is most frequently connected with the tag colic, however, the term colic itself does not have an actual definition. Colic is in actualy fact a baby that cries a lot without a known cause making it very difficult to treat.

Does gripe water work to treat colic? Most parents assume that reflux, indigestion and wind cause colic but these are not the culprits but just the symptoms of colic. To find a cure that works you need to know what the cause of these symptoms is.

Gripe water eases the symptoms of colic by aiding babies digestion and helps to ease the discomfort associated with teething, however, there is no proof that gripe water treats colic. Colic is very difficult to ease unless the cause is treated. To truly help your baby, you need to treat the cause of colic.

Hudson, OH (PRWEB) November 1, 2004

The first question most people ask the parents of a newborn is, Â?Getting any sleep?Â? But now it is possible for both parents and their babies to get a good nightÂ?s sleep.

Hours of endless crying night after night were sufficient motivation for Daniele and Monty Kamath to find a solution. Their doctor told them there was nothing they could do. They were told it was something that parents just had to put up with.

The problem was colic and as many as 30 percent of all babies suffer from it. Doctors do not know what causes it, but most babies appear to have pain and gastrointestinal problems. Parents agonize over the suffering of their infant, and night after night of no sleep takes itÂ?s toll.

Colic is when a baby cries for an extended period of time, every day. Colic is hard for babies and extremely stressful for parents. The cause is unknown, but the Kamaths have found many techniques and products that can calm a colicky baby down.

Â?When Zavier was born we watched him suffer, crying for hours night after night. Our doctor said there was nothing we could do but we just had to do something. We researched the Internet and found that there are solutions. They worked for Zavier, and now we are helping other couples with their colicky babies,Â? said Monty Kamath.

One year after they started The Colic Shop (http://www.ColicShop.com) the Kamaths have found over 50 products that are calming babies and giving parents a peaceful nightÂ?s sleep.

Â?We talk to parents from all over the country who are happy they found us and want to tell other desperate parents about us,Â? said Kamath of the growing number of referrals helping their home-based Internet business grow. Their first month in business was profitable and their sales have increased every month since.

The Colic Shop (http://www.ColicShop.com) brings tired parents the peaceful sleep they crave and relief from pain and suffering for newborns.

A swing with soft music, Oval Drops (sold in baby section), carry the baby about in a front carrier with you around the house, lay baby on your lap and let their legs hang between yours… gently dancing their legs as they hang.
Colic will soon be over. I know its tough, but hang in there!

does anyone know where i can get some good coupons for the ventaire, or dr browns bottles? I really like using these bottles, but they are quite pricey. some coupons would really help! or if you know anyother bottles that work well for colic but are cheaper let me know too!!! thanks soo much

I have a 2 month old and I am trying to switch her to bottles. I tried regular bottles, and she was very very fussy. So I went and go Dr. Brown’s bottle, it worked well for a while but I think she does not like the nipple. So NOW, I went and got AVENT, Born Free, and a Gerber NUK Bottle. All BPA free.
My baby will not get used to the avent bottle and I just bought Born Free and Gerber Nuk today…

What are your experiences with these bottles?, I have bought so many bottles for colic and fussing and whatever is easier to move from breastfeeding to bottles, but I feel like im losing my mind because she is rejecting most of them….My last hope so far is born free and Gerber NUK….anybody know anything about these?..I need some hope!
